Naples, an age-old gem of Europe, tends to evoke strong feelings – you either adore it or remain indifferent. My father and I embarked on our ‘Latina’s Napoli Tour With Papi’ without preconceptions, eager to form our own opinions on this debated destination. To our delight, we found ourselves firmly in the camp of Naples admirers. So much so that upon our return, I couldn’t help but sing its praises to friends and begin plotting my next visit. What drew us in? Naples’ magnetic charm lies in its rugged yet vibrant coastal backdrop and its unapologetically authentic character. The streets hum with the legacy of Maradona, while the narrow alleys welcome only vespas, bikes, and bustling foot traffic. Here, where wine and Aperol Spritz flow more freely than water and the sight of laundry drying outside windows exudes Italian flair, Napoli truly captivated us.
Naples doesn’t just offer a fleeting experience; you can easily visit beyond two-days. There’s a wealth of treasures awaiting. From delving into ancient catacombs and exploring the underground city to savoring world-renowned pizza and immersing oneself in timeless artworks, Naples presents a rich tapestry of experiences for every traveler.

Where To Stay In Naples

As a travel blogger, I know that after a day of sightseeing, travelers are in search of a comfortable place to sleep but staff can really up-level their accommodation experience. Matti from Tredici Boutique Rooms did just that. Matti was kind enough to pick my father and I up from the train station and bring us to the hotel when our train was delayed and we arrived after 11pm. He is concerned about his guests, friendly, knowledgeable of his city and ready to share this with all. Thanks to him we saw the major sights in Naples, tasted the best Napoli pizza and made the most out of our 2 day stay. Aside from Matti, the attention to detail in the room was excellent and the stay was in a central location close to many attractions. Will happily return here.

Must Try Eats In Naples

Naples Foodie Hotspots
Antica Pizzeria Di Matteo – locals recommend this as the best place for pizza in Naples and no complaints from my papi and I.
Trattoria da Nennella – a good example of Naples character can be found at this lively eatery in the Spanish quarter which I recommend for lunch. It’s chaotic, fun and unapologetic. They offer an affordable set menu and complimentary limoncello when you leave.
Zia Esterina Sorbillo – a no frills fried pizza spot in one of the lively streets in Naples. Enjoy people watching, cheap aperol spritz while indulging in the unique take on pizza that only Naples can provide.
Pasticceria Carraturo – nice bakery for breakfast. Try a Baba & sfogliatelle which are typical of Naples.
Avoid
Caffè Del Professore – while famous, I would avoid this like the black plague. Based on reviews, I read they over charge tourists and I was able to confirm when they tried to charge me double for Naples iconic chocolate hazelnut espresso coffee. Grab from a different place & don’t get ripped off.

Napoli Eats To Try
- Fried pizza
- Sfogliatelle – a typical flaky pastry
- Baba – a sweet sponge cake drenched in rum that is typical in Naples
