8 Genoa Foodie Hotspots

1. Sa Pesta

This nook is a must for lunch in Genoa. It draws both tourists, locals, and everyone in between with its authentic atmosphere and renowned farinata and pasta. Join the bustling scene and take a seat next to people of all ages and professions. Just remember that it is closed on Sundays and for dinner, so make sure to visit for lunch.

2. Quelli dell’acciughetta

Give your tastebuds a delightful upgrade. While this is a less traditional dining option, it’s a fantastic way to see how chefs are using local ingredients and updating recipes in a unique way.

Try its sister restaurant that is located on the other side of the city –

A little spot we stumbled upon in the city and so glad we did. This osteria offers tasty traditional Genovese dishes including pasta served by the friendliest staff I’ve met.

Genoa Focaccia

5. Antico Forno della Casan

For a delightful breakfast, head to Antico Forno della Casana, known for serving Genoa’s finest focaccia. Keep in mind, they are closed on Sundays.

6. Gran Ristoro

For a delicious bargain, grab the city’s best focaccia sandwiches at Il Gran Ristoro, where the famous focaccia with swordfish is a must-try. While it’s a small, no-frills spot with limited outdoor seating, I recommend taking your order to go and enjoying it near the port. If you’re overwhelmed by the sandwich options, especially without speaking Italian, simply use Google Maps to locate the spot and access their online ordering menu, making it easy to find and order your desired sandwich.

7. Antica Confetteria Romanengo

If you are like me and can’t resist sweets, especially when traveling then you can’t come this far without visiting the oldest confectionery in Italy. We ordered a few items and while the cost was on the higher end, each sweet was delightful. Their opening hours are a bit strange so be sure to use my Genoa Tourist Google Map below for the most updated operating hours.

8. Marescotti di Cavo

For a night drink or aperitif, head to the historic Marescotti di Cavo, a pastry-and-champagne bar near Porto Antico. Find a table by the crystal windows and order their light-as-air amaretto cookies; they’re open every day until 7:30pm.
