When I was asked to test out Esimoo, a new brand offering seamless connectivity solutions across Asia, for my month-long trip, I was genuinely excited. Just like phone plans at home, not all eSIM providers are created equal. Choosing the wrong one can leave you with spotty service, unexpected issues, or limitations when you need connectivity the most. Having the chance to try a new provider and share my experience with fellow travelers felt like a win-win.

I’ll admit, before eSIMs became popular, I wasn’t the type to buy local SIM cards while traveling. The idea of hunting for a SIM card at the airport, juggling multiple cards for different countries, and physically switching them out wasn’t appealing. Instead, I used international phone plans, which were pricey but essential for me as a solo female traveler. Staying connected isn’t just convenient—it’s critical for safety and peace of mind.

WHY USE AN ESIMOO ESIM

With the growing access and popularity to esim’s, it really is a no brainer to grab one for your next vacation. Being connected right away and from wherever you are makes travel smoother, from navigating with maps to keeping in touch via WhatsApp. As someone who started solo traveling long before eSIMs existed, I can confidently say they’ve made a huge difference.

WHO IS ESIMOO

Esimoo specializes in eSIM technology for several countries across Asia, including Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Vietnam, to name a few. I had the opportunity to test Esimoo during my trip to Japan, and spoiler alert, I give it glowing reviews (more on that in the next section).

Disclaimer: Esimoo provided me with a complimentary eSIM for Japan, but this review is entirely my own.

 USING ESIMOO ESIM IN JAPAN

Navigating Tokyo at night

Esimoo’s eSIM didn’t just meet my expectations; it exceeded them! Even impressing my travel buddies who had opted for other eSIMs. Their providers often failed during key moments, like ordering car shares or loading maps in Tokyo. Needless to say, my Esimoo eSIM came to the rescue several times during the trip for my group, especially in the first few days.

After a few days into the trip, my friends ditched their unreliable eSIMs and switched to Esimoo. Reliable coverage in a busy city like Tokyo was a must, and Esimoo delivered.

TYPE OF ESIMOO ESIM I RECOMMEND

For most travelers, I recommend a data-only eSIM. These are great if you don’t plan to make traditional calls, as apps like WhatsApp and FaceTime let you connect using just data.

UNLIMITED DATA VS DATA AMOUNT

Choosing the right eSIM package depends on your travel style. For longer trips or work-related travel (like my trips to Brazil and Portugal), unlimited data is the way to go.

For shorter getaways, like a beach vacation where you don’t anticipate heavy data use, a capped data package should be enough.

TIP: Not sure how much data you’ll need? I use my monthly phone data usage as a guide. For example, during my 9 days with Esimoo’s unlimited plan in Japan, I used about 10 GB. I hardly connected to Wi-Fi to see if Esimoo’s speed would slow down as other eSIM providers do, it didn’t!

SETTING UP ESIMOO ESIM

Setting up Esimoo was straightforward. I installed it a few days before my trip using the detailed  “How do I set up my eSIMs?”  in the FAQ section on their website. The process was quick and easy.

HOW TO GRAB YOUR OWN ESIMOO ESIM

As my friends and I can testify, its super easy to purchase your eSIM for your next trip with Esimoo.

With coverage in destinations across Asia and Europe and plenty of flexible data packages to choose from, you will have no problem purchasing the right esim for you.

Head over to the Esimoo website, pick the data package that fits your trip, install it, and you’re all set—happy travels!
