Visiting San Marino in 24 hours when vacationing in Italy can provide a quick escape and a whirlwind day of culture and charm in a new country. We all know that good things come in small packages and this includes small countries as they deserve love too! While you can’t make a whole holiday from a small country, these bite size countries do make for great day trips when you combine them with other countries you are visiting and are perfect for travelers collecting stamps on their passport.

Sitting at 61 km (aka 24 square miles), San Marino is the 5th smallest country in the world and interestingly enough 1 of 3 countries completely surrounded by another country which in this case is North-Central Italy. It’s no surprise to hear that if you find yourself visiting this part of Italy as I did; including San Marino in your itinerary is a MUST!
