After a thrilling campervan road trip across Iceland, my friend and I found ourselves making Reykjavik our final stop. Dubbed our “Reykjavik Snapshot For A Girls’ Trip,” this vibrant capital city offers a perfect blend of urban charm and natural beauty. While I wouldn’t suggest using it as a home base for your entire journey, spending a day or two here before heading home is a fantastic way to decompress and ease back into civilization. With its compact size and pedestrian-friendly layout, exploring Reykjavik on foot allows you to immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere and soak in the essence of Icelandic culture.

Make the most of your time in Reykjavik on foot as I show you how easy it is to navigate in the capital of Iceland:

Reykjavik Travel Tips

Money Accepted: Credit cards are accepted in most places but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have cash in hand.
Safety In Iceland:If this Latina and her female travel companion could road trip safely around the country, camping in remote areas, rest assured, you will be safe too.
Friendly To Tourists/Latinas: Locals seemed friendly enough but I must give a disclaimer that most people we encountered either worked for the tourist industry or were also tourists visiting Iceland.
Length Of Stay: To explore Reykjavik, I would recommend 2 days and make this the last stop of your visit if you plan to explore more of the country as it is a great way to return to city life.
Additional Tips: Icelandic is the native language and many Icelandic’s do speak English so there is no need to brush up on any language lessons when visiting.

While I do love traveling solo, this is a country I highly recommend visiting with a +1.

Ways To Get Around Iceland

WalkReykjavik is small and can be easily traveled by foot. Just remember to dress for the month you visit.
BusThere are many local bus’ in Reykjavik that operate around the city and to other cities. I wouldn’t trust using the bus to go too far out of the city but within the city, it is very reliable. These can easily be paid via card.
FlyCheck out cheap flights to Iceland using Skyscanner – your most trustworthy travel companion.
Car Rental Depending on the number in your group, what else you plan to see and if you opt not to travel with a campervan, renting a car will be the cheaper option. Book your car rental.
