Here is all the information you need for a great time in this Baltic country with my Latvia: blogger’s 4-day insights. You visit Latvia for it’s rich history, vibrant culture, and towns that are best explored barefoot, you heard that right, BAREFOOT!
As a Latina travel blogger who has been there, done that and sent herself the souvenir postcard, you’d think that the little country of Latvia or the Baltics would not catch my attention. Then I heard about a 2900m long nature walk that is done barefoot in the Ķemeri National Park in Latvia – and I was sold. I started planning my Baltics trip, knowing my visit was all around this infamous Barefoot Trail and my friend quickly caught on that this Barefoot Trail was a must during my visit. Spoiler: The trail was FANTASTIC, and so was the rest of Latvia.
Within this guide, we will travel through Latvia with a 4-day itinerary that I used to travel through Latvia.
Make the most of your time in Latvia on foot as I show you how easy it is to navigate in the country.

Latvia Travel Tips

| Money Accepted: | Credit cards are accepted in most places with many ATMs available if you do need cash. | ||
| Safety In Latvia: | If this Latina and her female traveling companion were able to walk around freely on a lively Saturday night without a problem in the world, I know that you can too. | ||
| Friendly To Tourists/Latinas: | We were told by other backpackers in Lithuania that Latvian locals were more unfriendly but this was far from the truth. We found that Lithuanians were very friendly and helpful. From the woman who helped us purchase our train tickets when the ticket agent could not speak English. Or how the Valguma Pasaule Hotel helped us orchestrate our visit to the Barefoot Trail and even had a worker from the hotel pick us up from the train station as bus’ were not available. To the family who were so excited to hear an American and Italian were visiting their country and didn’t bat an eye when their child wanted us to swing him as we walked along the river. | ||
| Length Of Stay: | To explore Latvia, I would recommend 3 – 4 days depending on how much you want to explore. | ||
| Additional Tips: | No shoes inside hostel Less English spoken People are friendly despite rumors by other travelers |
