Toompea Hill & Castle
Towering above the rest of the Old Town, Toompea hill not only serves as a seat of power but also boasts romantic observation platforms, making it an Instagrammer’s dream and offers stunning Tallinn viewpoints of the city. Below you will see my two favorite during my visit.
Town Hall Square and Town Hall
Today, Tallinn’s Town Hall Square remains a vibrant hub, bustling with cafes, markets, and cultural events, while still retaining its historic charm as the heartbeat of Tallinn’s Old Town.
Visit Tallinn’s Town Hall offers beautiful views of the Old Town from its tower.
Port Noblessner
This hip port will provide you with lots of cool start-ups, coworking spaces, saunas, locally owned shops, restaurants and unique bars. Port Noblessner is totally worth the visit, especially on a Friday.
St Catherine’s Passage
Walk through historic St. Catherine’s Passage to feel transported to medieval Tallinn. The cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and artisan workshops create an enchanting atmosphere of the past.
Kalamaja
Next to Telliskivi, you’ll find one of Tallinn’s oldest neighborhoods, Kalamaja . Famed for its colorful wooden houses, it’s a must-visit to see the contrast of architecture throughout the city. I personally enjoyed strolling around and soaking in the bohemian vibe of the area.
Book this North Tallinn bike tour will have you explore this neighborhood with a local in an environmental way.
Tallinn Churches
Tallinn showcases two iconic churches atop Toompea Hill: St. Mary’s Cathedral and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Be sure to visit St. Olaf’s Church as well, it was once the tallest building in the world.
Additionally, explore the Niguliste Museum housed within the former St. Nicholas Church, where medieval art awaits. Ascend to the museum’s sky floor for another stunning panorama of the Old Town.
KGB Prison Cells
Tourists shouldn’t miss the KGB Prison Cells in Tallinn for a sobering look into Estonia’s Soviet-era oppression, offering vital historical insight and honoring the resilience of its people.
Port Of Tallinn
Yes, the Port of Tallinn is where ferries leave to and from Tallinn but its also a hidden gem. Walk here for beautiful and calming views of port during the sunset hours.
