Top Things I Miss As A Solo Traveler

Top Things I Miss As A Solo Traveler

I love being a solo traveler. Especially as a Latina traveler. One things is exploring a country as a solo travelr but I’m a woman, doing it alone and a Latina/Person of color. I’m challenging cultural norms and expectations and proving its achievable, rewarding and fun. That’s not to say there aren’t some top things I miss as a solo traveler. But when I say that if I can do it, anyone can, I mean it!

Once I took the leap, I never went back!  I’m glad to report that traveling solo doesn’t mean you are alone. You wouldn’t believe how much you can see, experience and the people you will meet. Thanks to being a Latina While I highly recommend solo travel, I must admit that these are the top things I miss as a Solo Traveler.

Top Things I Miss While Solo Traveling

Specific Cuisine 🍚

I’m Latin and love Latin food. While traveling, you can find tacos or Mexican restaurants but my favorite cuisine; Puerto Rican is a hard no , sadly.

If you are like me and find yourself missing home cooked meals or specific cuisines on your solo travel adventures, book an EatWith Experience. They offer a ton of meal experiences with local families in their home. This can be anything from cooking classes, market visits to even cocktail making workshops.

Family & Friends 🍗

Twice on my list because it’s certainly the top thing I miss as a solo traveler. Can I put them in my backpack? Being able to communicate with them during my Latina travel adventures has been so essential for me since I’m really big on family. Having an international SIM card was a Solo travel essential for me. My family and I both knew we could easily contact each other and never skip a beat regardless of distance.

TIP: Order a eSIM – digital sim card, before your solo travel adventures begin.
I recommend Airalo, the world’s first eSIM store that solves the pain of high roaming bills. Travelers can download/install a digital data pack to over 200 countries/regions & get connected anywhere in the world as soon as they land.

Family – including 4 legged children 🐼

Blessed are those who can travel with their 4-legged children. What I wouldn’t give to be able to travel with my pup, Montana.

Consider a campervan trip & bring your 4-legged plus one.
Rent your campervan with PaulCamper.

Skin Routine 💆🏾

Your face really takes a beating with extra sun, temperature changes, pollution levels etc. Even if you bring your whole skin routine, which my #lifeinabag won’t allow you will still notice your travels in your face.

Regular Workout Routine 🚲

Gyms and other fitness activities will do the job but creating a routine even while traveling will really help your body.

See my post on staying healthy while travelling.

Makeup 💁🏽

If you travel to sunnier places then where you are from or if you start your trip in another season, simply by walking and taking in tours, sights etc. you will be sure to tan. Especially in the face. Since I am a Latina from Chicago, when traveling for longer periods of times it’s hard to predict what foundation color I will be from week to week. It means, either I wear foundation that doesn’t match or opt for none. (Which personally isn’t my style.)
