Visit Manchester Travel Tips

Latina Expat Manchester Travel
Visit 2 Countries: Combine Ireland and England – An hour or less flight from Manchester can get you to Dublin. Check out my Dublin guide.
Good Place To Base Yourself: Use Manchester as your home base for all your day trips to other parts of Northern England. Such as Liverpool, Chester, an Ale Trail or even Edinburgh in Scotland. This is what makes Ireland so great and leverage the nights to experience Irish pubs, music and cuisine.
Ways To Get To Manchester:Fly – Check out cheap flights using WAYAWAY – your new and trustworthy travel companion.

Train –  I booked trains using Trainline and they were very reliable and affordable.

Car Rental – Depending on the number in your group and what else you plan to see, renting a car may be a cheaper option. Book your rental.

Uber – Uber operates in Manchester with many drivers available throughout the day.
Length Of Stay: To explore Manchester, I would recommend 2-3 full days and preferably during the weekend.

Attractions In MCR:

Explore the heart of Manchester and don’t miss out on my 13 favorite attractions in the city. These are the sights I think showcase the richness of this city. 13 Must Visit Attractions In Manchester

Things To Do In Manchester:

  • Jump on board an Ale trail – Wondering what this is? Check out my ale trail article for all the details.
  • Attend a horse race – Experience the races as you dress up, place bets and stamp your way through this quintessential British activity. Read my full Horse Racing UK: Manchester Daytrip guide and plan your experience too.
  • Try a 99 flake – The English take on a ice cream cone featuring a Cadbury chocolate flake. (Traditional ice cream shops or ice cream trucks will serve them.)
  • Visit a “Chippy” aka a fish and chip shop – A proper one will sell you pies, currys, sausages, beans and obviously the iconic fish and chips.
  • Chocolate /candy tasting – Word on the street, chocolate bars in England are simply better compared to American candy due to the artificial sugar of corn syrup used in American candy. Leave the cheese charcuterie and wine pairings for your trip to France and pick up some bars of “Starbar”, “Boost”, “Crunchie” and “Galaxy”. Have a taste testing with your friends over coffee or tea and taste the difference.
